  RATCHET STRAPS

Updated March 6, 2019

Ratchet straps are used to secure horses or other large animals to the Rescue Glide. They are used in conjunction with chokers. Ratchet straps are carried on Rescue-1 and Rescue-3. (On Rescue-1 they are stored in the locker box labeled, "Rescue Glide Box 2".)

On Rescue-1 the ratchet straps are hung from the right-hand rear door.

Chokers are used to attach the ratchet straps to the Rescue Glide.

The older chokers (on Rescue-3) are black. The newer chokers (on Rescue-1) are yellow.

The chokers provide a more secure grip for the ratchet straps when securing a large animal.

For more information regarding the application of recovery straps, please visit Technical Sheet #14,
