Part Seven - The Orphan Foals

We get orphan foals for a variety of reasons. Sometimes their mothers fall ill or die. Sometimes they get separated from their bands. Sometimes the weather is too cold and they can't keep up with their bands. Sometimes they get injured. In Northern Nevada if orphan foals are found out on the range, they usually end up going to Wild Horse Organized Assistance or LRTC's Lucky Horse Corrals. When they come to the Lucky Horse Corrals, they come under the care of Shirley Allen, whose ability to save severely debilitated foals is uncanny.

In a few instances we were able to take photos and make "case history" photo albums of foals. Those horses and their stories appear here. You can click on a photo and the case history for each foal will open in a new window.
