Janet's report for 11-18-01

People in attendance: Jackie, Leilani, Becky, Cliff & Janet.

Jackie pulled Jack first and got him nice and cleaned up so that she could take a "Santa picture" with him as well. While I was out hanging out in the paddock with her Spirit came up and started nestling me so I put a halter on him and took him out to get him cleaned up as well. As soon as I got him all cleaned up Cliff came out and trimmed his back feet up a little. They were looking pretty rough and we didn't want them to go any longer. I have been practicing for a week now on picking up his hind feet without any fuss and stretching them out nicely.

Next Jackie picked up Frosty and groomed him and I caught Mo. Mo has been trying to be difficult to catch this week so we just worked on keeping him quiet and allowing us to approach. I groomed him up and then turned him back out.

Cliff caught up Belle and had his Santa picture taken with her as well. Then he placed the Santa hat on her back so that the "new arrival" could wear it as well. She is getting so big and miserable. She waddles when she walks and is a bit ornery.

Jackie then caught Moose and cleaned him up nicely. Leilani showed up a bit late and she went right to work with Magic. Leilani is forming quite the bond with Magic and the two of them do very well together. I pulled Yogi and did some grooming work with him and Cliff caught up Gator and got him spiffied up nicely as well.

Then we turned them all out to play again in their big turnout and when we went back to feed they had put themselves all away again and we standing by their feeders waiting to be fed.

Janet's report for 12-01-01

People in attendance: Nancy, Leilani, and Janet

It was our first day back working with the horses after having a week off for the holidays. It was pretty nice weather wise so we made the most of it. The weather has been pretty much laying down a lot of snow this week. We basically just worked on refresher stuff. We caught each one and lead them out of the pen. Then groomed them which included picking out and cleaning each foot. Each horse is progressing well and they all enjoy the interaction with the mentors.

All of the horses were quite muddy and so it took a while longer than normal to get them clean. But they all really seemed to enjoy getting cleaned up.

Leilani started out with Magic and got him slicked up and looking beautiful. Leilani and Magic make a great team and they both adore each other. Nancy started out with Dusty and had him looking mighty fine in a short time. Then she went on to work with Moose. Mostly she just wanted to cuddle with him as she has missed him this week. Leilani moved on to Frosty. This is the first time she has worked with Frosty and she did exceptional with him.

Nancy went on to work with Spirit and was able to get him cleaned up and looking nice as well as get his hooves cleaned out nicely. Leilani worked with Gator and found him to be quite personable. Her grandson, who was observing. fell instantly in love with him and began trying to convince his grandmother that she needed to set her sights on Gator instead of Magic.

I was able to pull Yogi and do a little work with him and then I pulled Jack. We started taking head shots of them for their fact sheets.
