Jan 12-13, Continued

Alissa worked with Frosty, he is fine with the yellow blanket but seems to have an aversion to the red blanket(?), so now he always gets to wear the red one.

Russ worked with Jack, he got the yellow one and also trailer loaded several times, with a very patient and quiet hand he will be quite a horse, he's only 2 yrs old but he's big and strong and is becoming a favorite here.

Another sentimental favorite is becoming Mo, he is so "western" looking, like the quintessential Indian pony and every day he becomes more socialized. He is doing great with the saddle.

Leilani worked with Dusty, "Mr. Personality." I'm sure he will eat up the crowds and attention he'll have in just another 3 weeks.

On Sunday, Olga, a radio reporter from the Czech Republic came out to do a feature on the horses. She asked a lot of questions and was introduced to Dusty who was a friendly ambassador indeed. There were also some BLM officials there and all of the equine gang behaved very well. Janet, Cliff, Jackie, Leilani and I were there, along with assorted children and grandchildren who were 'helping' and interracting, particularly in the areas of horn-honking, horse cookies, etc!

Jackie has now inducted Mo as the newest member of the horn-honking club! She has a really good way with him, he accepted the saddle right off, and she was able to put her foot into each stirrup, letting him get used to the feel of the toe of her shoe on him and then putting just a little weight onto each side. He was really calm and great, and she quickly ended the session on that high note.

She also worked with Frosty, who after their session didn't want to be let go and followed her around like glue while she was going to catch Mo. It must be the equine massage class she took yesterday, she's sneaking something in that makes them love her more....

Janet and Cliff spend all of these sessions mentoring us mentors, while Janet organizes everything and takes tons of photos and leaps to help when help is needed (usually by me...) Thanks to all of the mentors in CA and UT, and the nice words of support we've gotten from elsewhere. This project is a result of the many years of work and dedication by everyone combined so the whole group across the country has a lot to be proud of.
