Janet's report for Jan 20
Sunday we started out the day with trying to get a few of the horses groomed
up. We were expecting an Austrian TV reporter out and wanted the boys to be
looking their best. Jackie also brought a bouquet of ballons when she
arrived so all the horses got to "investigate" the balloons and work some
more on the cowbells. Alissa and Lorraine (Sharron's daughters) arrived and
spent some time with Dusty and Spirit and then went on our to play with the
burros for a while. I think Belle has become quite smitten with Alissa
because she allowed Alissa to groom her ever growing belly which as of late
she is very protective of and won't let to many people even touch.
Leilani started by catching and grooming Spirit and then turned him over to
Lorraine when she arrived and went on out to catch Magic. Magic has become
rock solid at just about everything he is asked to do and he does it
willingly. Leilani has taken a very special interest in Magic and the two
are great together.
Glade and Faren from the BLM arrived in preparation for the media and
Glade wanted to see Moose. So we pulled out Moose and Glade went right to
work getting him all cleaned up nicely and then leading him around and into
the trailer. He was amazed at his quiet demeanor and his willingness to
what was asked.
Eva from the Austrian media was brought in by Susan Marzack, Glenn
Carpenter, and Todd Christensen of the Salt Lake BLM and the fun began. We
had an emergency with Jack (who was having a terrible time with colic) so
Cliff spent his time taking care of Jack. Thank you Gwilda for that
wonderful first aid kit at the workshop. The only thing that I added when I
got home was a shot of banamine and it truly was a lifesaver yesterday.
Jack is up and doing well now.
