OLYMPIC WILD HORSE & BURRO PROJECT
Part Ten

9-3-01; Checking out the progress

Monday was another "review" day. Spirit did much better with people up close and personal. Magic and Dusty had another walkabout out in the horse course. The burros... well they were burros.

We made a point of getting pictures of Dusty this time.

Hi, guys!

Jenny working on Dusty lowering his head
Alternating height cavaletti
Over the mound
An amble over the bridge
Culvert crossing
Down the stairs
The burros, of course, would do anything to get attention, as Patty helped demonstrate.
Fancy coming in for fly spray
Let's check those feet

While Belle wouldn't try to crowd the others away for attention, she still liked getting her share.

Burro hug
That feels pretty good!
It's darn near impossible to do anything with Rosie without Fancy crowding in, or with fancy without Rosie crowding in. These guys are like a litter of Labrador puppies.
OK, I'll brush you too
Can I just finish with Rosie first?
Oh, all right...

On Wednesday Betty and Willis took Magic and Dusty out to the horse course together. They handled all the obstacles including the pit and a narrow "step through - pass through." Afterwards we turned them out into the large arena to play and hang out. A couple of hours later when we went to bring them in, they were standing by the gate waiting to be haltered.

We put Spirit in the safe squeeze. He was very calm and started to relax when touched on both sides simultaneously. Eva worked with him for a while there. He seems real close to settling in and will take treats from visitors through the fence.

Unfortunately we had no "photographer" on Wednesday, but we'll post some progress pictures of future activities.
