Janet's report for 11-09-01

People in attendance: Nancy, Janet, and Cliff

We have settled into a routine on the weeknights now. We catch, halter and lead each horse from their paddock and then groom them and clean all four feet as they eat their pellets. Hopefully sometime soon it will set in for them that this is a really neat thing and they will start looking forward to being caught.

(It was too dark to get decent photos of the evening work.)

Janet's report for 11-10-01

People in attendance: Cheryl & Richard Eastep, Sharron, Becky, Janet, & Cliff

We were all so excited to have Cheryl and Richard join our crew this weekend. First off we grabbed the last of the "rebels" and turned them out with all the boys so that we could watch their interaction with each other. They all seemed to get along fairly nicely with a just a few squabbles here and there. And I was so excited and very proud to see Yogi out with the crowd and know that I could still approach and pet him whenever I wanted to.

However before I turned Yogi out with the crowd I decided to see if I could trim some off those long feet of his. He stayed very relaxed for the whole thing and I was able to work on all 4 feet. This was my first attempt at a trim and I wasn't very comfortable with it so I asked Cliff to come in and try to do some. He was able to work on both front feet but Yogi was not ready to let him have his backs yet.

Cheryl and Sharron did some work with the burros and Cheryl offered that it was her opinion that Belle is ready to deliver within the next month, so we made her her own place so stay quiet and undisturbed.

Becky grabbed Moose and groomed him out very nicely including cleaning out his feet. Cliff was close by supervising and making sure she was holding the foot correctly.

Sharron worked with Spirit and Magic and got them all groomed up nicely.

Cheryl did some quiet time work with Jack trying to build his self confidence in his new home.

Each horse was caught and groomed and feet cleaned. With all this new found place to move around though some are a little more reluctant than others to catch. So that is something we will continue to work on.
