Janet's report for Feb. 5.

Well today was the big day. Four horses (Spirit, Dusty, Gator, and Frosty) and the two burros (Rosie and Belle) made their debut at the Solider Hollow venue. Our day started early and we got loaded and began the trek up to the venue. Security was intense and it took us quite some time to make it through. And then at the very end we ended up having to unload and walk the horses and burros the last half mile into their corral rather than unload the animals so they could inspect the truck and trailer and reload them.

The four boys and two girls led up the road, over the snow bank, down through the creek and up the other side like champs. Quite the obstacle course and they all passed with flying colors. They also made quite a hit with athletes and workers alike. People all along the way kept asking us to stop so they could pet the "wild ones".

We got the boys and girls settled in and then did some grooming to get them shined up nice. We sat around and watched them for a while and then headed back down to get some lunch ourselves. The people involved in the transport were Kyle Hansen, Lisa Reid and Glade Anderson from the Utah BLM and myself. We were also escorted by three security officers from the BLM.

Our next visit with the boys and girls will be on Saturday when the Olympics are kicked off. The boys and girls are just inside the front gate so all 20,000 visitors a day will be going past our wonderful treasures.
